Middle schoolers up for a spell

The Saratoga/Encampment Spelling Bee was held Jan. 27 in the Saratoga Middle School Cafeteria.

Eleven students, ranging from fourth to eighth grade, showed off their spelling abilities. For the first portion of the Bee, students were told to write out 50 words.

After the students passed the writing portion, the oral part of the Bee began. Students were instructed to spell out words without writing them. If a student misspelled a word, they were eliminated from the competition

At the end of the oral competition, Saratoga Middle School eighth grader Amber Hill was named spelling champion. Second...
