The Voices of the Valley board is conducting a survey to gather information about how people are using the forest.
VoV will use the survey to report findings to the Forest Service Public Scoping Period for the West Side Snowy Range Travel Management Project.
The U.S. Forest Service (USFS) is seeking public input to help develop proposals and identify issues and concerns regarding the West Side Snowy Range Travel Management Project. The analysis area for the project is located on the west side of the Snowy Range, and encompasses approximately 210,000 acres on the Brush Creek/Hayden Ranger District, according to USFS documents. The project area boundary is the Laramie Road to the south and east, and the Forest boundary on the north and west.
According to the USFS, the purpose of the project is to provide safe access to and through the National Forest, minimize user conflicts, minimize travel and recreation impacts to the environment and provide additional ATV-only designated trails.
VoV Executive Director KayCee Alameda said the survey will help board members better analyze information received on the management project. She said the survey must be completed and submitted today, and that the summary of information would be turned into USFS before Friday.
The Voices of the Valley board came up with the survey to gather comments and thoughts about how the forest roads are used, Alameda said.
Official comments are due by Friday, Jan. 31, Alameda said. She would like people to complete to survey today.
Alameda said VoV members are very interested is receiving public feedback in this process, and welcomed people to share the survey with others.
“We greatly appreciate your taking the time to fill this survey out and submit it to us,” Alameda said.
