Encampment’s varsity boys’ basketball team scored another win last month, making a 54-46 triumph over the Rock River Longhorns.
The Dec. 20 victory puts the Tigers at a 4-1 (non-conference) season record, with their only loss being against Saratoga. Scorers included Luke Pantle with 23 points, Guy Erickson with 10, Harold Jackson with nine points and David Flauding and Jared Stewart with six points each.
“Rock River was a good test for us and the game was close throughout,” said coach Clint Bromley. “The difference in the game came down to three-point shooting, with the Tigers making seven and Rock River making four, but otherwise the game was even in almost every aspect. We are still evolving as a team and looking for the chemistry that can create success down the road. It was an excellent game for the players and the fans and we are fortunate to have gotten out with a win.”
The junior varsity Tigers, however, lost to the Rawlins team with 51-63 on Dec. 19. Erickson scored the most in that game, with 21 points, followed by Pantle with 15, Jackson with nine and Stewart with six. Pantle also gained 13 rebounds during the game.
“We had the lead at the half 28 to 24 and didn’t finish in the second half,” Bromley said. “The team is still adjusting to a new system and we still have a ways to go. Rawlins has a quality team that made the necessary adjustments to get the win. If we could play them every week we would be a lot better team in the end.”
The Tigers next play at Dubois Friday and hosts Hayden at noon on Saturday. Results from Tuesday’s game against the Laramie Sophomores were not available at press time.
