Serving the Platte Valley since 1888
The 4-H shooting sports is cocked and ready to go for its 2014 season. Kids 8-18 years old will have an opportunity to compete in a variety of shooting sports throughout the year.
Events include air rifle, air pistol, .22 rifle, .22 pistol, archery, muzzleloader and trap shooting competitions.
Instructor Louie Braun said that the primary focus is teaching firearm safety and getting younger kids accustomed to firearms.
Members have opportunities to test their shooting skills in county, regional, state and national competitions.
The state shoot is held annually in Douglas in the second week of July.
An open, informational meeting and sign-up will be held from 7-8 p.m. Jan. 15 at the Saratoga Library.
Members will meet every Wednesday beginning Jan. 22, starting with air rifle, air pistol and archery practice in the Platte Valley Community Center.
