Basketball at Encampment
Friday night the S. & E. ran a special train from here to Encampment for the benefit of the basketball game that night. About 70 people went from here and all report a good time. The Rubes and Giants played a one-sided game of 5 to 25 in favor of the Giants. The girls played against the Encampment girls and the results were 10 to 4 in favor of the Saratoga girls. The games were followed by a dance which lasted until train time Saturday morning. Supper was served at midnight by the Ladies Guild. The teams paid all expense and had some left.

Good attendance at ski benefit dance
Saratoga was exceptionally well represented at the ski dance held in Parco last Saturday night. Good attendance from Rawlins, Parco, Hanna and other sections of the county was had, and the sponsors of the dance were able to add several dollars to the Ski club fund. The Ryan Park Ski Club gave the dance to raise money for maintenance of the new ski course near Ten Mile, and to help with improvements and other expenses which will arise during the coming season. Work on the course is going ahead, with snow bothering very little as yet, and most skiing now being done is at a location on the east side of the Snowy Range highway, near the Crow lumber camp. Another snowfall or two will be necessary before the new course will be ready for general use.

Larger room found for town library
In what is probably one of the quickest solutions on record, larger more comfortable quarters have been secured for the Saratoga branch of the Carbon County Library. The library will soon be housed in the former kindergarten building at the east side of the school grounds.
The building, which is about 26x30 feet, was made available by the Board of Education of School District No. 9 at the regular meeting Monday night when a local delegation appeased with a request for the facilities. The school also contributed a table, chairs and some shelving, John C. Tynon, superintendent said.
The delegation, which included Mrs. John Glode, Mrs. J.E. Nelson who is librarian, and Richard Bucholz, mayor of Saratoga, said they had met with the county library board and secured permission to make the proposed move. The library board will pay for lighting and heating.
Mr. Tynon said that next week, school custodians will move stored items out of the building which will then be immediately available for occupancy. It was noted that now, with the library’s permanent collection being cataloged at the Rawlins branch, is the ideal time to accomplish the change of quarters.
The present library room, located in Town Hall, has been made inadequate for several years.

Part of Highway 70 closed due to trucks hauling logs
Wyoming Highway 70 has been closed from the east boundary of the national forest at Battle Creek Campground to the west boundary at Battle Mountain.
According to the U.S. Forest Service Hayden District Ranger, the closure is under the authority of the Wyoming Highway Department.
Louisiana Pacific Corp. is currently hauling logs over the road, by agreement with the State of Wyoming. The public should be aware that there is extreme danger due to heavy logging traffic, and that to travel on this road at present is a violation of state law.
