Encampment talks water and winter

The town of Encampment had a short council meeting Thursday, covering winter street cleanup and the Emergency Water Supply Project.

Ken Schwerdt from PMPC gave an update on a roll-up door that was part of the Emergency Water Supply Project, and intended to load in bigger pieces of equipment. The water supply project was completed in September.

“At the last meeting we talked about the door not sealing very well, but the door is installed properly, so I don’t see an issue with the installation of it,” he said. “The type of door is not as air-tight and drafts come in, but that’s the nature of the door’s construction. It’s a roll-up door that doesn’t seal real well, but going through it we’ve been able to drain that out sufficiently. I did revise updates on the drainage procedures.”

Vicki Loftice gave an update on the recent town planning commission meeting, mentioning that two applications were received. She also thanked the town for helping clean streets after snowfall.

“From me personally, I would like to say that the town employees have done a very good job of removing the snow from the streets in a very quick manner,” Loftice said.

Council member Mary Martin shared information on the New Year’s Eve Family Movie Night, sponsored by the Town of Encampment.

“The movie selected for the New Year’s Eve Movie Night will be ‘Turbo’”, she said. “If anyone needs posters let me know, I have extras.”

The movie takes place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31 at the Grand Encampment Opera House. Refreshments are provided.
