Beautiful toes at RSS

The Red Sage Spa has a new service thanks to Shandiin Talker. They now offer “glitter toes”.

Talker spent the summer months earning her nail technician degree in Murray, Utah, and returned with not only a license to be a nail technician, but with new and modern ideas on how to make the clients at Red Sage Spa sparkle.

Talker has been getting her nails done for years, and as an employee of Red Sage Spa since it opened in 2004. She wanted to be able to offer a service aside from her massage therapy.

“I have never liked cutting hair,” Talker said, “but I love getting my nails done.”

Talker thought that would be a good addition to the team at Red Sage Spa.

Talker hopes to work on her esthetics certification next. Estheticians are licensed professionals who are experts in maintaining and improving healthy skin.

Talker said the school she attended in Utah, “Color My Nails School”, offered a three-month class which she attended this summer. Wyoming does not offer nail tech programs separate from cosmetology, Talker said.

The hours were transferable to Wyoming, Talker said, she just had to wait for all the documents to go through before she could practice in Wyoming.

“It was a good education,” Talker said, “I learned a lot about nails and the classes allowed some creativity.”

Talker said Utah is more up on trends than Wyoming and the hottest trend right now is the glitter toes. “It is huge in Utah,” Talker said. “Everyone (in my class) knew about it and I had no idea what it was.”

Glitter toes is a gel for toes and lasts four to six weeks.

Talker said she learned how to do pedicures, manicures and how to build artificial toenails. Runners lose their toenails quite a lot, from the toes rubbing into the shoe as they run, Talker said.

“Bring your feet in and let me make them more beautiful,” Talker said.
