Riverside talks old town hall repair

A bid for window and roof work on the old town hall was approved at last Thursday’s Riverside Town Council meeting.

The town council approved a bid from High Plains Foam in Encampment to put in new windows and perform roof work for the old Riverside Town Hall building. Council member Leroy Stephenson said work on the window portion of the project should begin as soon as possible.

“They’ll be doing the windows as soon as they can, and doing the roof in the spring or early summer if they can fit it into their schedule,” he said.

The town council discussed the open house for the new Youth Crisis Center in Rawlins, which is next to the Rawlins police department. The open house is Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m.

The meeting’s agenda also had the council scheduled to speak about the CCEDC Housing Assessment Study, but representatives were not present.

Near the meeting’s end, the Elk Mountain Consensus Funds were brought up for discussion. Town Clerk/Treasurer Jan Cook mentioned the topic would be discussed further at the upcoming Carbon County Council of Governments (COG) meeting in Rawlins.

“We already discussed that, and hopefully someone will be able to go to the COG meeting,” Cook said. “That’s on the agenda for the COG meeting, and so is the Fifth Penny Tax.”
