At Deseret Health and Rehab, residents enjoyed many activities this week. The Activity Department offers a variety of activities each week to meet the residents’ interests and needs.
We will be having our annual fall carnival from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 25, 2013.
There will be games, prizes, candy, the spook house and the cake walk for kids of the valley.
We wish to thank Tim Lamprecht for the kind donation of candy for the kids at the carnival.
Games throughout the week provided fun and laughter. On Sunday afternoon, five residents played Dominoes with Truth Karstoft winning. On Monday afternoon, four residents played Yahtzee with Edith Donnis winning. On Wednesday afternoon, nine residents played Bingo, and on Friday afternoon, nine residents played Bingo. Charlotte Gibbons and Dora Martin won Four Corners. Frank Jereb and Edith Donnis won Blackouts. Our Bingo helpers were Dawna Erickson, Gloria Rackness, Lila Worden, and Betty Dean. On Saturday afternoon, residents played Blackjack.
Residents watched the Turner Classic Movie channel evenings during the week. On Sunday morning, residents watched the VCR movie, “Tall in the Saddle”. On Tuesday afternoon, residents watched a VCR Movie, “Double Jeopardy”. On Saturday morning, residents watched the VCR movie, “Harvey”.
For Lunch Out at the Saratoga Senior Center, two residents had baked pork chops Monday, and five residents had chicken fried steak and birthday cake Friday.
On Sunday afternoon, Pastor Gene Smith of the Platte Valley Christian Center led church for residents.
On Monday morning, nine residents attended Resident Council, discussing concerns about living at the facility.
On Tuesday morning, Brenda Zeiger offered Bible Study to five residents.
On Wednesday morning, Janice Kerpan gave beautiful hairdos to six ladies in Hair Care, and Brenda Zeiger did nails for them.
On Thursday afternoon, the Mary Martha League hosted the monthly birthday party. Although there were no residents with birthdays in October, residents had ice cream and birthday cake.
On Thursday at supper, Teense Willford sang and played country western music on his guitar for 24 residents.
On Saturday afternoon, residents enjoyed ice cream sandwiches.
