Games, movies and activities

At Deseret Health and Rehab, residents enjoyed many activities throughout the week. The Activity Department offers a wide variety of activities each week to meet the residents’ interests, as well as the physical, mental and psychological well-being of each resident.

On Friday, Brenda Zeiger and I were away at an Activity workshop in Casper. We had three learning sessions on Alzheimer’s and dementia and two sessions by Wyoming state surveyors on activities in state surveys.

Games throughout the week provided fun and laughter. On Sunday afternoon, four residents played Dominoes with Charlotte Gibbons winning. On Monday afternoon, residents elected to play Dominoes again. On Wednesday afternoon, 11 residents played Bingo, and on Friday afternoon, nine residents played Bingo. Truth Karstoft and Kenny Hoagland won Four Corners. Dora Martin and Pat Sims won Blackouts on both days. Our Bingo helpers were Dawna Erickson, Gloria Rakness, Lila Worden, Joni Johnson, Ed Kennaday, Julieann Lambke, and four Big Brothers/Big Sisters kids—Emily, Katie, Sam and Sarah. On Saturday afternoon, residents played Blackjack.

Residents watched the Turner Classic Movie channel evenings during the week. On Sunday morning, residents watched the VCR movie, “My Pal Trigger”. On Tuesday afternoon, residents watched a VCR Movie, “Sweet Home Alabama”. On Saturday morning, residents watched the VCR movie, “Key Largo”.

On Sunday afternoon, Reverend Mikki Laws of the Encampment Presbyterian Church led church for residents.

On Monday, four residents had Lunch Out at the Saratoga Senior Center.
