Birthdays, movies and more

At Deseret Health and Rehab, residents enjoyed many activities throughout the week. The Activity Department offers a wide variety of activities each week to meet the residents’ interests, as well as the physical, mental and psychological well-being of each resident.

We had our monthly birthday party at he facility on Thursday afternoon, and 11 residents attended. We celebrated the birthdays of Randy Cross, Ralph Platt, and Gloria Kendrick with ice cream and cake. Residents played one Blackout Bingo with Charlotte Gibbons winning. Six residents went to the Senior Center on Friday, having roast beef and birthday cake. Ralph Platt, who was a 100 years old on September 13th, attended.

Games throughout the week provided fun and laughter. On Sunday afternoon, five residents played Uno with Charlotte Gibbons winning. On Wednesday afternoon, nine residents played Bingo, and on Friday afternoon, nine residents played Bingo. Kenny Hoagland, Carol Higby, and Truth Karstoft won Four Corners. Frank Jereb and Kenny Hoagland won Blackouts. Our Bingo helpers were Gloria and Lila Worden. On Saturday afternoon, residents played Blackjack.

Residents watched the commercial-free Turner Classic Movie channel evenings during the week. On Sunday morning, residents watched the VCR movie, “Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm”. On Tuesday afternoon, residents watched the VCR Movie, “The Day After Tomorrow”. On Saturday morning, residents watched the VCR movie, “Father’s Day”.

On Sunday afternoon, Pastor Stinson of the Saratoga Missionary Alliance Church led church for residents.

On Monday, Thursday, and Friday mornings, residents continued listening to Robin Cook’s “Acceptable Risk”.

On Monday, three residents had pork chops for Lunch Out at the Saratoga Senior Center.

On Monday afternoon, three residents went shopping at the Family Dollar.

On Wednesday morning, Janice Kerpan gave beautiful hairdos to five ladies in Hair Care, and Brenda Zeiger did nails.

On Saturday afternoon, residents enjoyed ice cream sandwiches.
