With summertime slowly winding down, remaining season gatherings had council members excited during Thursday’s Riverside Town Council meeting.
The council members discussed what still needed to be purchased for the Town of Riverside Community Picnic at Rick Martin Memorial Park, which featured live music from Wyoming’s own music and comedy duo “Laughing Bird”.
Riverside town clerk Jan Cook discussed what to bring to drink for the gathering.
“I’ve got five cases of water at the garage, and I’ll pick it up Saturday morning so I don’t have to haul it,” she said. “It’s about 125 bottles, and I thought with iced tea, lemonade and water, this way there’s no pop and I don’t have to clean up the pop mess. All we need to get is ice and we’ll bring our big cooler. We’ll set up the canopy Saturday morning, and we’ll load up some tables.”
Council member Leroy Stephenson moved to give Encampment Hospitality a picnic license for the Aug. 16 fifth-anniversary celebration party for the Bear Trap Café, and the council approved. Also approved by the council were picnic licenses for next year’s WHAT Fest. Councilwoman Margaret Weber did not vote.
The council also discussed the updating of the Carbon County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan. Cook said the mitigation plan, which was created by a consultant hired by the county in 2009, is required to be updated every five years. She said participating would be of no cost to Riverside, but was unsure of what the town would have to do while taking part in the update.
The next Riverside Town Council meeting will be back to the second Thursday of the month, scheduled for 6 p.m., Sept. 12.
