Heston revolver for sale at Sagebrush and Six Shooters

Gun enthusiasts have the chance to get their grip on a rare and unique six-shooter next month.

Keith Bailey, Saratoga summer resident, said he will be donating the single-action Colt .45 at the “Sagebrush and Six Shooters, Party on the Platte” sixth anniversary celebration and auction for the Platte Valley Community Center Foundation. Bailey said the six-shooter gun was the 23rd out of only 25 models made. The first one made was given to late actor and former National Rifle Association President Charlton Heston.

“The gun was made in late 2002 or early 2003, and was made on the occasion of Heston completing his term as NRA president in 2003,” he said. “The first one was given as a gift to him to commemorate that. I got the one I have from the gentleman who had commissioned the 25 guns, and he was able to locate one for me.”

According to Bailey, the coloring of the gun is a blue case finish, and included are ivory grips and special engraving on the sides and bottom of the model. “National Rifle Association” is also written across the left side of the gun’s barrel.

“The ivory grips have Heston’s initials on the one side and NRA on the other side,” he said. “It also has the years Heston was president of the NRA, 1998 to 2003, on the bottom of the grip.”

As an added bonus, Bailey said the gun comes with six sterling silver bullets, with Heston’s signature on one side of the bullet and “Silver Bullet Brigade” on the other. The gun and its bullets come in a display case replicated to resemble the Bill of Rights, with “The Bill of Rights” and Charlton Heston’s name written on the spine, and included inside is a parchment-style copy of the written U.S. Constitution signed by Heston.

Bailey said the gun is a special collector’s edition item, and should go for a high price range at the auction.

“I think the gun will go somewhere between $15,000 and $25,000,” he said. “That would be my guess of the range of where it might come out. That’s probably the market value.”
