A rough and rugged group of mountainfolk achieved first place at the Sierra Madre Mountain Man Rendezvous and Black Powder Shoot July 26-28.
Competitors of all ages participated in Wild West-era sports and games such as pistol shooting, knife throwing, axe throwing, discus throwing and frying pan throwing, complete with unique competition titles, on the grass behind the Encampment Museum grounds. Overall aggregate winners in the rendezvous each received $200 in cash, and also included was a best-dressed category for those wearing authentic mountainman or mountainwoman clothing attire.
