Giving thanks to landowners and a chance for the public to celebrate and learn more, the Wyoming Stock Growers Agricultural Land Trust (WSGALT) is holding its annual Roundup Barbeque in Saratoga Aug. 24.
According to the WSGALT, this year’s Roundup Barbeque takes place at Sheeprock Ranch in Saratoga for the benefit of the organization. Hosts Jack and Donna Glode, Joe Glode and Julie Evans welcome guests for an evening in celebration of conservation through ranching in Wyoming. The event includes a beef dinner and visiting with friends and neighbors from across the state, WSGALT Business Manager Margaret Cox said.
“The is a ‘thank you’ to all the landowners we’ve worked with, and a way to get the word out on what we are currently doing or have done in the past year,” Cox said. “The winner of the Kurt Bucholz Award will also be announced, and we’ll have live music from an Austin, Texas-based band called Lonesome Heroes. It’s just a fun evening with dinner, music and live auction, and a chance for us to talk about what we do.”
Paintings by Wyoming artists Brandon Bailey, Gayle Bennett, Christi Kemp, tickets to the National Finals Rodeo, a Billy Cook stock saddle, jewelry, unique vacation packages, western decor and having their name in Wyoming author CJ Box’s next book are some of the auction items to be auctioned by Joe Thomas, of Meeteetse. The items canned be seen online and one can get a jump start on bidding.
“People can also win a signed book set with all 13 of CJ Box’s Joe Pickett books,” Cox said. “Anyone is welcome to attend the event.”
A limited number of guests are invited to fish on the North Platte River on Sheep-rock Ranch prior to the barbecue. Tickets to the for the event are $75 per person, and those interested in attending the barbecue should contact Shari Baird at 307-772-8751 or [email protected] to make reservations.
