At Deseret Health and Rehab, residents enjoyed many activities throughout the week. The Activity Department offers a wide variety of activities each week to meet the residents’ interests, as well as the physical, mental and psychological well-being of each resident.
We will be having our annual summer barbecue for residents and their families in August.
Games throughout the week provided fun and laughter. On Sunday afternoon, four residents played Uno with Jeanette Baker winning. On Monday afternoon, six residents played Crazy Eights. On Wednesday afternoon, 12 residents played Bingo, and on Friday afternoon, 11 residents played Bingo. Dora Martin, Nadine Caleb, Jeanette Baker and Truth Karstoft won Four Corners. Elmer Cooper and Carol Higby won Blackouts. Our Bingo helpers were Gloria Rakness, Connie Hood, and Lila Worden. The kids from Big Brothers/Big Sisters helped residents in Bingo on Friday. They were accompanied by Julienne Lembke and Ed Kennaday.
Residents enjoyed watching movies during the week. Every evening several residents watched Turner Classic Movies.
On Sunday morning, residents watched “Gidget Goes to Rome”. On Tuesday afternoon, four residents watched the DVD movie, “Amelia”. On Saturday morning, residents watch “The Curse of the Mummy’s Tomb”.
On Sunday afternoon, Pastor Stinson of the Saratoga Missionary Alliance Church led church for eight residents. Doris Davis assisted on the keyboard with traditional religious music with Joe Gaspari as hymn leader.
On Monday, Thursday, and Friday mornings, residents listened to a new book, Mary Higgins Clark’s “No Place Like Home”.
For Lunch Out at the Saratoga Senior Center, two residents had Swedish meatballs on Monday, and five residents had baked chicken on Friday.
On Monday during supper, Nancy Facciani played old favorites on her accordion for 24 residents.
On Tuesday morning, Pastor Hughes offered Bible Study to four residents.
On Wednesday morning, Brenda Zeiger did Hair Care and Nail Care for three ladies.
On Saturday afternoon, residents enjoyed ice cream sandwiches.
