Two mid-summer business matters, the Emergency Water Supply Project and Riverside’s WHAT Fest, were heavily discussed at the recent Encampment Town Council meeting Thursday evening.
Early in the meeting, the council approved Mayor Greg Salisbury to sign the contract for the town’s Emergency Water Supply Project, now scheduled for work beginning Aug. 1. The project is set to be worked on under PMPC Civil Engineers in Saratoga, and had already been approved at a previous town council meeting. It needed the mayor’s official signature before startup.
Gary Steele, civil engineer for PMPC, was in attendance representing the company at Thursday’s meeting. The town council previously approved a $130,122 bid from Merrill Incorporated, a Cheyenne construction company, for the water supply project May 23. Merrill Inc. was also granted a notice of award for the project at the May meeting.
With WHAT Fest covering its second year in Riverside July 26-27, council members expected Encampment and Riverside residents and business people to be more accepting and less apprehensive about the music festival, and more people attending than last year. Members of the council said they had a better idea of what to expect after witnessing 2012’s WHAT Fest, and discussed possibly setting up a task force, with a large amount of police officers covering the area, to ensure better safety for the two-day event.
The council ended the public meeting by going into executive session, for the purpose of discussing personnel matters.
