Stacy Crimmins completes third year of specality training

The Institute for Organization Management (IOM) announced that Stacy Crimmins, executive director of the Saratoga/Platte Valley Chamber of Commerce, recently completed her third year at IOM, a four-year nonprofit leadership training program at Southeast Institute in Athens, Ga.

Crimmins, who has attended since 2011, said she found out about the leadership-building program from the Wyoming Chamber Partnership. 2014 will mark her last year in the program in Madison, Wis. She will graduate with other attendees at the end of the program’s week.

“I’m pretty excited, and I learned a huge amount of information on how to do my job even better from this program,” Crimmins said. “I have also made some strong friendships with people from other states, mostly in the Midwest. That networking is valuable in a small town, since there’s not another chamber director here.”

Since its commencement in 1921, the institute program has been educating tens of thousands of association, chamber and other nonprofit leaders on how to build stronger organizations, better serve their members and become strong business advocates. Institute’s curriculum consists of four weeklong sessions at five different university locations throughout the country.

“Institute participants are recognized across the country as leaders in their communities,” said Raymond P. Towle, IOM, CAE, vice president of IOM at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation. “These individuals have the knowledge, skills and dedication to achieve professional and organizational success in the dynamic association and chamber industries.”

Graduates of Institute receive the IOM recognition, signifying completion of 96 hours of course instruction in nonprofit management. Participants can also earn credit hours toward the Certified Chamber Executive (CCE) or Certified Association Executive (CAE) certifications. Nearly 1,000 individuals attend Institute each year.
