Hazard tree removal work will be conducted during the next couple of months on the French Creek Road (Forest Road 500) within the Brush Creek-Hayden (BCH) Ranger District.
To avoid closing long stretches of this popular route, work will be completed in three segments, working from west to east. The first closed segment is between the junctions with Forest Road 206 and Forest Road 225. This will be followed by a closure between the junctions with Forest Road 225 and Forest Road 210. The road will be closed between Forest Road 210 and 500.1J.
Closures are expected to be in effect starting at 7 a.m. each Monday and ending at 5 p.m. every Friday. To accommodate times, the road will be open on weekends. Logging operations are anticipated to be completed by late summer.
During the closure period, visitors should expect to encounter log trucks traveling along either Forest Road 225 to Highway 130 near Ryan Park, or Forest Road 500 to Highway 11 at Albany. Visitors are also reminded to be aware of and avoid heavy equipment operating in the area. Do not enter areas which are posted closed, as they are closed for public safety.
The Forest Service regrets any inconvenience these or other closures may cause the public; however, roadside hazard tree removal is needed to ensure long-term public safety.
Visitors to this part of the Medicine Bow National Forest are encouraged to check the status of work areas by calling 307-326-5258, or stopping by the BCH Ranger District office at 2171 S. Highway 130 in Saratoga between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Also during weekdays this summer, information can be obtained at the Brush Creek Visitor Center on Highway 130 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
