Country singing legend Neal McCoy is bringing a concert to Saratoga Wednesday for the first time in his 32-year singing career.
“It’s going to be the best show in town,” McCoy said.
McCoy and his band hit the Platte Valley Community Center stage 7 p.m. July 3.
Tickets are still for sale and can be obtained by calling or visiting the Community Center, or visiting pvcenter.org.
“Being a fan myself, I am excited to have the band here to kick off the July 4 celebration,” said PVCC Director Stephanie Vines.
McCoy and his band won’t know what they are playing until just before the show starts, McCoy said.
“It’s off the cuff,” McCoy said. “We make it a point for the band to have fun, and the audience will too.”
Although McCoy has never performed in Saratoga, he said he has traveled through the area before.
“We have run up through that area before, so we know there are a lot of people in that area that are fans,” McCoy said.
For those who haven’t heard him play before, McCoy describes his style as “feel-good music”.
“It’s not redneck country,” he said.
McCoy’s interest in music sparked at a young age. McCoy said his first inspirations were the Jackson Five and other R&B artists.
“I grew up mimicking the Jackson Five and I just knew at a young age I wanted to sing and dance,” McCoy said.
McCoy said he didn’t expect his interest in music to land him in a 32-year country music career.
McCoy urges all to come to the concert.
“I just know if people come out, they are going to have a great time,” he said.
