Deseret has new administrator

At Deseret Health and Rehab, residents enjoyed many activities throughout the week. The Activity Department offers a wide variety of activities each week to meet the residents’ interests, as well as the physical, mental and psychological well-being of each resident.

The residents and staff at the facility are happy to have a new administrator. Dave Doorn joins us with 11 years of experience as an administrator—nine years in Wyoming nursing homes and two years in Washington nursing homes. As our team leader, we look forward to having him guide us in our continued effort to give excellent quality of care and quality of life to our residents.

Games throughout the week provided fun and laughter. On Tuesday morning, four residents played Yahtzee. On Wednesday afternoon, 12 residents played Bingo, and on Friday afternoon, 11 residents played Bingo. Dora Martin and Frank Jereb won Four Corners. Pat Sims, Dora Martin, Nadine Caleb, and Kenny Hoagland won Blackouts, Our Bingo helpers were Joannie Johnson, Heather Oxford, Gloria Rakness, Connie Hood, and Lila Worden.

Residents enjoyed watching movies during the week. Every evening several residents watched Turner Classic Movies.

On Sunday morning, three residents watched the VCR movie, “Homeward Bound II”. On Tuesday afternoon, five residents watched the VCR movie, “Yours, Mine, and Ours”. On Saturday morning, residents watched the VCR movie, “A Night to Remember.”

On Sunday afternoon, Pastor Smith of the Platte Valley Christian Center led church for residents. Doris Davis assisted on the keyboard with traditional religious music.

On Monday morning, nine residents attended Resident Council. Dave Doorn, our new administrator, was introduced to residents.

On Monday, Thursday, and Friday mornings, residents listened to Alice Walker’s “The Color Purple”.

For Lunch Out at the Saratoga Senior Center, three residents had egg salad sandwiches on Monday, and four residents had baked steak teriyaki on Friday.

On Tuesday morning, Heather Oxford did Nail Care for four residents.

On Wednesday morning, Janice Kerpan and Heather Oxford gave seven beautiful hairdos.

On Thursday during supper, Teense Willford sang and played country western music for 25 residents.

On Thursday afternoon, five residents made sun catchers in Arts and Crafts.

On Saturday afternoon, residents enjoyed ice cream sandwiches.
