The American Legion Auxiliary installed eight elected officers at its recent meeting May 21.
The election of officers was held by mail in ballot. Officers elected were as follows:
Fran Payne Rogers- President
Kathleen Martin- Vice President
Pat Faust- Secretary
Donna Younger- Treasurer
Mandy Cooper- Historian
Diana Galbraith- Chaplain
Deb Clark- Sergeant at Arms
Nellie Wood- Publicity
“Poppy Poster” student placers were also announced at the meeting. The placers were as follows:
Taylor Bennett, first place
Kaitlyn Campbell, second place
Campbell Grabow, third place
Heath Cushing, Liandro Escobedo and Savannah Wells, honorable mention
Shirley McCandlish, District 6 President, also made her official visit at the meeting. Plans for Memorial Day and Flag Day were also discussed, and it was reported that a total of $197 was collected in the piggy banks for the Child Welfare Program.
The scholarship committee members reported they had gone over the applications and chosen a recipient, and the scholarship will be awarded at the high school awards program. The group also met its membership goal, which now stands at 101 percent, and decided to send $250 to the Department of Wyoming earmarked for Girls State.
The Unit 54 American Legion Auxiliary will now be recessed for the rest of June, July and August this year. Regular monthly meetings will resume at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 17 at the American Legion Home.
