SMS students look toward high school

Saratoga Middle School’s eighth grade students received a lesson on preparing for the next four years at their eighth grade promotion June 4.

The promotion served as a middle school graduation ceremony for the students, who would begin their freshman year in the fall. Saratoga Middle/High School Principal Larry Uhling gave an introduction and Rex Hohnholt, track coach and math teacher for Saratoga Middle/High School, gave an inspirational speech to the young graduates at the start of the promotion.

Hohnholt’s insight included the importance of having passion and a dream, caring about one’s self and fellow peers, reaching and giving full potential, preserving and heading in the right direction, staying strong while growing up in today’s changing society and being prepared for what lies ahead.

The students in attendance received packets with paper certificates noting their completion of middle school and class photos going back each year to kindergarten. Students also received graduation cap necklaces, and were congratulated for their talents, accomplishments and standout traits by both Uhling and Hohnholt.

The list of eighth grade graduates is listed below, though some were not present at the ceremony.
