Music, movies and church

At Deseret Health and Rehab, residents enjoyed many activities throughout the week. The Activity Department offers a wide variety of activities each week to meet the residents’ interests, as well as the physical, mental and psychological well-being of each resident.

Games throughout the week provided fun and laughter. On Sunday afternoon, three residents played Uno with Dora Martin winning. On Monday afternoon five residents played Dominoes. On Wednesday afternoon, 12 residents played Bingo, and on Friday afternoon, 13 residents played Bingo. Jeanette Baker, Julia Priquet, and Nadine Caleb won Four Corners. Jeanette Baker and Truth Karstoft won Blackouts. Our Bingo helpers were Connie Hood, Betty Dean, and Lila Worden. On Saturday afternoon, five residents played Blackjack with Pat Sims winning.

Residents enjoyed watching movies during the week. Every evening several residents watched Turner Classic Movies.

On Sunday morning, four residents watched the VCR movie, “The Man from Snowy River”. On Saturday morning, residents watched the VCR movie, “Frances, the Talking Mule”.

On Sunday afternoon, Reverend Helen Young of the Saratoga Presbyterian Church led church for residents, and Doris Davis assisted on the keyboard with traditional religious music.

On Monday, Thursday, and Friday mornings, residents listened to Brenda Zeiger read from Alice Walker’s The Color Purple.

Also on Monday morning, residents re-planted some tomato plants in the plant carts on our patio.

On Tuesday morning, Pastor Hughes of the Abundant Life Fellowship offered Bible Study to five residents.

On Wednesday morning, Janice Kerpan gave nine ladies beautiful hairdos, and Brenda Zeiger gave Nail Care to nine residents.

On Thursday afternoon, four residents did clay modeling in Arts and Crafts.

On Thursday and Saturday afternoons, residents enjoyed ice cream sandwiches.

On Thursday during supper, Teense Willford sang and played country western music for 26 residents.

On Friday for Lunch Out at the Saratoga Senior Center, three residents had hot turkey sandwiches.

We wish to thank Betty Dean for the donation of candy for Bingo.
