Steven "Nubbins" Carl Doehling

Steven “Nubbins” Carl Doehling, of Saratoga, passed away at Memorial Hospital of Carbon County in Rawlins April 23, 2013. Steve was born Jan. 8, 1961, to Wilferd Oliver Doehling and Betty Ann Thomas, in Ft. Morgan, Colo., the only son of five children.

Steve attended school in Ft. Morgan and Wiggins, Colo. He later moved to Greeley, Colo., where he worked for several years at Garnsey & Wheeler Ford in Greeley with longtime friend Brad Greenly. While in Greeley, Steve participated in stock car racing and demolition derbies. He painted his cars black with a red 3 for his favorite NASCAR driver, Dale Earnhardt. When Steve’s nephew Tony Moore passed away, Steve honored him by putting Tony’s name on his stock car.

Steve moved to Saratoga in 1996 where he lived until his death. Steve had moved to Saratoga to work for Carbon County Truck Sales. At the time of his death, Steve owned and operated Nubbins Lube & Automotive. Steve was known for his generosity, kindness and shining smile. He touched many lives during his time in Saratoga.

Steve was an avid pool player. This past season he served as the league director for The Platte Valley VNEA Pool League. He was one of the major volunteers each year with the The Annual Wyoming Open. He participated in the High Desert Shootout, the Wyoming State Pool Tournament and others.

He loved being in the mountains and the outdoors, he loved NASCAR, the Denver Broncos, the Wyoming Cowboys and especially looked forward to hunting camp with his friends.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Linda Talbert, brother-in-law Terry Rapue and nephew Tony Moore. He is survived by sisters Carol Barton and Jean Moore, both of Ft. Morgan and Rita Rapue, of Wiggins.

He is also survived by the many who loved him and called him friend.
