The Xi Beta Delta sorority in Encampment is seeking applications for their annual college scholarships. For many years, this group has been able to offer at least one and sometimes two scholarships to graduating seniors at the Encampment and Saratoga high schools. Sorority President Marcy Knotwell is pleased to announce that for the first time ever they will be offering up to six scholarships this year. Four will be awarded to the graduating seniors at the local high schools and two will be presented to graduates of Encampment or Saratoga High School who are currently enrolled in college.
The sorority group uses the funds raised each year from the casino night that they conduct in conjunction with the Encampment Winter Carnival. Some funding also comes from their portion of the health fair proceeds. Knotwell said, “We feel that it is important that the community know what our group uses the funds that we raise for and supporting the graduates with a scholarship program has been important to our group for many years.”
Students who are interested in applying for the scholarships should contact their local high counselor for an application. Applications are also available from any Xi Beta Delta member. Applications must be received by the local group by May 3 for consideration.
