Movies, games and fun

At Deseret Health and Rehab, residents enjoy many activities. The activity department offers a wide variety of activities each week to meet the residents’ interests, as well as the physical, mental and psychological well-being of each resident.

Games throughout the week provided fun and laughter. On Sunday afternoon, three residents played Uno with Truth Karstoft winning. On Monday afternoon, four residents played Dominoes. On Wednesday afternoon, 12 residents played Bingo, and on Friday afternoon, 12 residents played Bingo. Nadine Caleb, Sunny Behonek, and Jeanette Baker won Four Corners. Jeannie James, Dora Martin, and Jeanette Baker won Blackouts. Our Bingo helpers were Betty Dean, Lila Worden, Connie Hood, and Gloria Rakness. On Saturday afternoon, five residents played Blackjack with Frank Jereb winning.

Residents enjoyed watching movies during the week. Every evening several residents watched commercial-free Turner Classic Movies. On Sunday mornings, residents watch westerns. On Tuesday afternoon, residents watch recent movies. On Saturday mornings, residents watch musicals. On Sunday morning residents watched the VCR movie, “The Night of the Grizzly”. On Tuesday afternoon, eight residents watched the VCR movie, “The Help”. On Saturday morning, residents watched the VCR movie, “Along Came Jones”.

On Sunday afternoon, Reverend Young of the Saratoga Presbyterian Church offered Communion to three residents.

On Sunday afternoon, Mrs. Hughes stood in for Pastor Hughes of the Abundant Life Fellowship and led our church service. Doris Davis assisted on the keyboard.

On Monday, eight residents attended Resident Council under the leadership of President Randy Cross, discussing concerns about living at the facility.

On Monday and Thursday mornings, residents attended “Reading Fun,“ listening to Jeanette Walls’ “The Glass Castle”.

For Lunch Out at the Saratoga Senior Center, on Monday, two residents had chicken pot pie, and on Friday, three residents had baked fish.

On Tuesday morning, Pastor Easterling offered Bible Study to five residents with his wife, Debbie, assisting on the guitar.

On Wednesday morning, Janice Kerpan gave seven ladies beautiful hairdos. Brenda Zeiger did nail care for seven residents as well.

On Thursday afternoon, residents did colored pictures in Arts and Crafts.
