Harris to be crowned Carbon County Queen

Miss Carbon County is collecting donations for her Coronation Ceremony.

During the ceremony, Mandy Harris will be officially crowned Miss Carbon County. However, she has a lot to do before the ceremony on April 20.

“I have already been crowned the queen, but we are using this as our fundraiser,” Harris said. “I am going around to the businesses asking for donations, whether it be a cash donation or an item we can auction off.”

Harris is currently collecting donations to fund the event, collecting items for auction and help start a future scholarship fund for queens.

“It will go toward future queens,” she said. “We have to build up that fund, as well as a travel fund so we can go across the state.”

The travel fund will help Harris represent Carbon County at events like Cheyenne Frontier Days, she said.

Those who can donate an item for auction, or want to make a cash donation, can call Harris at 307-329-7794 or 307-326-5013. Although all donations are appreciated and encouraged, Harris said she needs more auction items for the coronation ceremony.

Attendees of the ceremony pay $10 at the door. The fee pays for a barbeque brisket dinner and access to a silent and live auction, plus live music provided by the band Ten Mile.

The rest of her court will also be crowned at the event.

Cora Foster of Baggs will be crowned lady-in-waiting, Mabel Raymond of Bairoil will be crowned junior queen and Aubrey Berger of Saratoga will be crowned princess.
