The Wyoming Game and Fish Department seeks volunteers to assist in retrieving mule deer radio-collars in the Platte Valley herd unit this Saturday.
In January of 2011, 50 mule deer does in the Platte Valley herd unit were fitted with GPS radio-collars, so researchers could learn about their seasonal movements. The radio-collars were programmed to fall off Monday, April 1, and need to be collected from the field so researchers can download information stored inside.
Volunteers should meet at 8 a.m., Saturday at the Saratoga Town Hall. Duties include filling out volunteers forms, doing a radio telemetry short course, making collection assignments and distributing radio-receivers and maps. If possible, please RSVP to Will Schultz at [email protected] or 307-326-3020.
