American Legion Auxiliary to host District 6 President

The American Legion Auxiliary Post 54 is hosting the District 6 American Legion president at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday at the Legion Post Home.

Shirley McCandlish is a 44-year member of the Laramie Unit 14, but now lives in Torrington.

McCandlish is eligible for the American Legion Auxiliary though the service of her deceased husbands Wilbert Herdt and Jim McCandlish.

McCandlish served the American Legion Auxiliary as department secretary-treasurer from 1986 to 1998. She also served as the department historian, chaplain and vice president and various other capacities. From 2000 to 2001, McCandlish served as department president.

She is also serving as the department parliamentarian.

McCandlish is the initiating officer for Saratoga’s new members during the New Member Initiation Ceremony.

A carry-in dinner will follow the meeting.
