The annual Xi Beta Delta Casino Night will be held in conjunction with the 27th annual Sierra Madre Winter Carnival this weekend. Casino Night will begin at the Opera House in Encampment on Jan. 26 at 7 p.m.
For $15, gamblers will get $25,000 worth of “funny money” to use at a variety of games over the course of the evening. Light refreshments and a cash bar will be available.
Winners will use their proceeds to bid on a variety of donated prizes from area merchants, as well as local and professional artists. Special prizes this year include a night’s stay and dinner for two at the Saratoga Resort and Spa, a Spur Outfitters float trip, Wyoming Whiskey from Chez Booze, restaurant gift certificates, snow gear and many other prizes.
A silent auction includes artwork by R.G. Finney, SBay Photography, Lynn Acord, Lester Thompson and golf for two with a golf cart at Rochelle Golf Course.
“Over a hundred people attend the event,” Marcy Knotwell, president of the sorority said. “This year a lot of our prizes range in worth from $200 to $400. It’s a huge fundraiser for the sorority.”
The Xi Beta Delta sorority in Encampment has been hosting the casino night for many years. Proceeds from the evening’s events support annual college scholarships in Encampment and Saratoga.
The sorority has supported the Encampment pre-school, Encampment Senior Center building fund, Encampment Opera House reconstruction fund, the Encampment-Riverside Volunteer Fire Department Christmas toy drive and Grandma’s Cabin.
The group also supports the health fair in the Valley every other spring, the Reading is Fundamental program at the Encampment School four times each school year and provides food each summer for the Encampment-Riverside Volunteer Fire Department community appreciation and fundraising picnic.
