Community Block Service Grant funds from the Tripartite Board for the Emergency Health Program became available to Carbon County Public Health Jan. 7.
The grant funds are renewed yearly and usually last through the summer. They can be used for medical and dental services, eye care, pharmacy expenses and mileage for trips to and from clinics or hospitals out of town.
Public Health nurse Sue Bartlett said the Emergency Health Program has been around for at least 13 years. The funds are distributed to qualified patients through a paper voucher system.
“The average adult usually gets up to $600 per grant period,” Bartlett said.
Application information is available at the Public Health office. Applicants will need to provide income verification, photo ID, a form from the Department of Family Services stating that they are not receiving any duplicate services, and proof of residency.
Previous applicants still need to reapply every year. For information call 326-5371 or visit the Carbon County Public Health building at 201 S. River in Saratoga.
