A new section of The Wyoming Game and Fish Department’s website will make it easier for hunters to plan their hunt for the coming year.
By selecting ‘Plan Your Hunt’ at wgfd.wyo.gov hunters can choose the species they want to hunt and look up information for that species including license costs, drawing odds, and harvest information by hunt area. Hunters can also check their preference point totals and hunt area maps for each species.
Hunters can find both resident and nonresident application documents and information on how to apply for a license. General hunting information as well as game laws, a link to a list of Wyoming outfitters, and contact information for Game and Fish personnel can also be found.
Game and Fish will no longer print the Hunting Information and Application booklet, but hunters can find complete application documents on the Game and Fish website. Hunters who want to apply using paper applications can download the application forms from the Game and Fish website, request application documents from any Game and Fish office, or call (307) 777-4600.
Game and Fish will begin accepting applications online for both residents and nonresidents beginning Jan. 1, 2013. The first application deadline is Jan. 31 for nonresident elk.
Ninety percent of nonresidents and 83 percent of residents now apply for hunts online, and the increased popularity of online applications could speed up processing and allow drawings to be conducted earlier.
