Saratoga Men's Golf Club to meet

The organizational meeting of the Saratoga Men’s Golf Association takes place Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Saratoga Resort and Spa.
All duffers interested in participating in league play this summer at the Saratoga Golf Course on Wednesday afternoons are urged to attend in order to join the club and meet Matt Daubner, the new golf pro, at the resort.

Five named to All Conference team: Top valley athletes talk about season highlights

During the 2012-2013 basketball season, he averaged 9.5 points per game and scored 219 points through the season.
Those statistics earned Ben Gates a nod as an All Conference player his senior year.
Basketball head coach Josh Sandlian said Gates is a leader. He participates in every sport.

Tigers ready for 'mighty' season

The Encampment athletes will have until Thursday to continue their conditioning. The next track meet is at Wind River.
The Natrona County Invite was cancelled Friday after Casper received six inches of snow, Encampment High School head track coach Kegan Willford said.
Willford is used to Wyoming’s unpredictable weather, he said, but it does put a lot of pressure on the athletes.

Panthers look for return to state

The Saratoga Panthers boys track team came home with second place at state last year. “I hope the feeling they got last year with their second place finish will spur each and every one of them to have even greater expectations this year,” Panthers’ head coach Rex Hohnholt said.

Love, Gates nominated for scholar athlete award

When Scott Bokelman was charged with nominating players for a state-wide athlete award, the choices were clear.
Bokelman, head coa ch of the Saratoga Panthers, nominated Waddie Love and Ben Gates for the Wyoming Chapter of the National Football Foundation Scholar Athlete Award.

Ingleby places first

Saratoga Middle School wrestling coach Brandon Ray reported tournament results for the Shoshoni tournament.
Earning first place was Thomas Ingleby followed by Jeremy Detterer and Alex Ziegler taking second in their weight classes. Wyatt Carricato, Morgan Rempel and Colton Jones earned third place. Javin Vailette earned fourth place.

Snakes block Tigers road to state

The Encampment Tigers lost their chance to compete in the state championship Saturday. They lost 29-42 against Little Snake River Valley Rattlers at the 1A West Regional Boy Basketball Tournament in Lander.
Thursday night, the Tigers faced Dubois Rams and lost the game 43-55.
“This was a key game for us,” head coach Dan Kraft said. “I didn’t have the kids ready for low post.”
