"Two foreign exchange students, one transfer from Saratoga and one did not play last year because of an injury." According to Pantle, who is a first year head coach for the Lady Tigers, the girls aren't letting a lack of experience in T...

As long as that co...

LARAMIE, Wyo. (11/14/23) – Not long ago, Marcus Epps was patrolling the University of Wyoming secondary as a walk-on. Now, not only is he a starting safety in the National Football League, but a productive one at that. The Las Vegas Raider has logged at least four tackles in each of his last four games. That included a five-tackle performance in the Raiders’ 16-12 victory over the New York Jets. For the season, Epps has 44 tackles, three tackles for loss and one pass defended. He’s helped Las Vegas improve to 5-5 overall. Epps isn’t the only fo...

Awealthy ranch owner wants a federal appeals court to overturn a Wyoming judge’s ruling that corner crossing is legal, arguing it relied on a 1914 court decision that is “not binding, persuasive or even good law.” Elk Mountain Ranch owner Fred Eshelman made that argument to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit in papers filed Monday by his attorneys. The appeal counters Wyoming Chief U.S. District Judge Scott Skavdahl’s ruling from earlier this year that federal law prevents Eshelma...

A mere 7 points separated the Tigers and Burlington. “Our game against Burlington was a shootout as anticipated,” said Kegan Willford, head coach of the Encampment Tigers. “Burlington has a great team and they execute very well. Our team played hard and fought all game to try and gain the advantage but, in...

It was a brisk, but beautiful, day for football on October 27 as the No. 2 Encampment Tigers hosted the No. 3 Meeteetse Longhorns for the quarterfinal round of the 1A Six-Man Playoffs. With the postseason now in full swing, the Tigers had no issue dominating their home field against Meeteetse, though the Longhorns came out charging for a playoff win. “Meeteetse started out strong, like any playoff team should, but we knew we had to stick to our game plan,” said Kegan Willford, head coach of the...
The season has come to an end for the Encampment Lady Tigers, who were knocked out of the 1A West Regional Tournament in two matches over the weekend. Last Monday, October 23, the Lady Tigers punched their ticket to the regional tournament in Riverton after taking down the Farson-Eden Lady Pronghorns in three sets. That win, while getting them into the regional tournament, also put them against the No. 1 ranked Riverside Lady Rebels who were 8-9-2 for the season and 4-0 in conference play. For...
The Lady Panthers of Saratoga High School traveled to Riverton last weekend for the volleyball Regionals. The team opened the tournament with a 3-1 win against Dubois. Unfortunately they just could not find their rhythm during the tournament and dropped the next match to Cokeville 0-3. They then faced Burlington, a team they had defeated twice over the course of the season. Throughout the sports world, at all levels of competition, they say beating the same team three times in a season is very...

The regular six-man football season came to an end this past weekend for the Encampment Tigers, who ended their final game in spectacular fashion. Hosted by the Midwest Oilers on October 21, the Tigers drilled down to completely shut out Midwest. “It was good to end the regular season where our younger players were able to get a lot of playing time,” said Kegan Willford, head coach for the Encampment Tigers. Much like other games this season, the Tigers wasted no time in dominating the gridiron...
Lingle-Fort Laramie high school brought an undefeated football team to face off with the Saratoga Panthers last Friday night. If they had any ideas of a walk through against the 2-5 Panthers they would soon learn, like every other opponent Saratoga has faced this season, that the team plays with purpose between the lines. The Panthers used their solid power running game to drive the opening possession down the field after the opening kickoff. Throwing only one pass on that drive they controlled...
No matter how many years a player participates in any given sport, or even what level of play they might ascend to, they will look back at very few, if any, undefeated seasons. The Saratoga Middle School Panthers accomplished the rare feat this Fall completing a perfect 7-0 record. Their schedule included five away games. After opening away at Burns, the team had back-to-back home games, then moved through four road games in a row. Very impressive for young players, like this, to travel well and...

The Mountaineers are the newest six-man team in Wyoming, having jo...
Saratoga High School football travelled to Yoder for a Friday night contest with Southeast High School. The Cyclones were able to control the home turf on a cold, breezy, night and claim the W 44-20. SHS Coach Todd Weber said “ We are proud of the effort from the team. They never quit, and didn’t this night. While they played hard, we just had too many turnovers. On the road against a good team you can’t do that.’. The Panthers committed five turnovers, three fumbles and two interce...
