    A once-popular independence day activity, Festival of the Arts, will be coming back to Saratoga this year on Independence Day weekend, allowing visitors to view and purchase art. The event will be held at the Platte Valley Community Center (PVCC) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 2-3, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 4.     Four men have been added to the Encampment-Riverside Lions Club Hall of Fame for 2016: John Priquet, Otto Wirz, Jay Talbott and Marvin Brandt. Each have been recognized for their contributions to Woodchoppers over the years. Biographies for Brandt, of Fox Park, and Talbott, of Laramie, are forthcoming. John Melvin Priquet John B. Priquet, Melvin's grandfather, came to America from France when he was seven. He came to the Valley on Jan. 1, 1900 with his wife and 11 children.... Full story

  • Murphey returns to Valley

    Battle Pass Scenic Byway Alliance will host Michael Martin Murphey from 4:30-6:30 p.m., June 12 at the Platte Valley Community Center. Murphey will also do a Saturday night show on the second Saturday in June during future years, a press release said. When Murphey performed last year in the Valley, the show received rave reviews, the release said.
