    Roland "Rolly" and Cheryl Bowen of Elk Mountain recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 8, 2014. Rolly and Cheryl, both longtime Elk Mountain residents, were married in 1964 at St. Matthew's Episcopal Cathedral in Laramie. They said they met sometime in 1961 at a dance hall in Elk Mountain.     The Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF) and Rebekahs Educational Foundation Scholarship Selection Committee met to select students for scholarships May 29 through June 2. The committee, including Saratogan Jim Wiant, and six members from other states, met in Jackson for three days to choose 26 scholarship recipients from across the country.     The Carbon County 4-H Foundation has awarded scholarships to two students from the Platte Valley. Micayla Crimmins, a 2013 Saratoga High School graduate, was given a $450 foundation scholarship. Brett Miller, an Encampment High School student, was awarded the $500 4-H Stallion Service Auction scholarship. These scholarships will be used for the 2014-15 semester.
