The 20th annual Platte Valley Helping Hands (PVHH) Free Thanksgiving Dinner will be on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 26, this year. The dinner will be held from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at St. Anne’s Parish Hall, 218 Spring Ave., Saratoga. Zachary and Aya Laux are proud to announce the birth of their son, Isaac Takashi Laux. Isaac was born at 5:52 a.m. Sept. 5, 2015 at the University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora, Colo. The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 54 met Aug. 18 at 6:30 p.m. at the American Legion Post Home. We heard reports from the last two events that were held by one unit, the Slave Auction and Rumble Sale and the River Raft Poker Run. Participants in Chris Irwin's horsemanship clinic at the Blackhall Mountain Ranch got a lesson in how all aspects of the rider's body effect a horses actions. The three-day clinic brought in people from around the North Platte Valley and from as far away as Fort Collins, Colo. Chris Irwin believes that interacting with a horse on a personal level takes labor and effort, but that the rewards are great if the time is put in.
