Front-woman Alysia Kraft recalls the name of her band, Patti Fiasco coming from a take on a nickname of sorts she got whenever she would get in trouble as a kid. • Box opens up about newest Pickett novel

    H.B. Lawson|Mar 11, 2015

I bumped into C.J. Box the other day as he was passing through town on his way to begin his latest book tour for his 15th Joe Pickett novel titled, "Endangered". Of course, I had to take the opportunity to ask him a few questions about himself, Joe Pickett and the Valley that helped to inspire both. The following conversation took place between this cub reporter and former Saratoga Sun reporter C.J. Box as the current New York Times best-selling author was heading out to appearances and books...

  • Ghostbuster Air, or; De-verting and De-icing de Plane

    Keith McLendon|Mar 4, 2015

Recently I went south to Houston to see family and friends. This time I flew out of a regional airport that turned out to be both closer and cheaper than our nearest big city hubs. The security is much less stressful to get through at a regional airport and this particular regional airport actually lands the big jets and not so much with the little sickness-inducing prop hoppers. It is also neat to walk up a portable ramp to board your 737—it seems to harken back to an earlier and simpler m...

This makes a fine, neat clean, little plant and will prove to be a saver in running expense to some extent. 75 Years Ago Jan. 11, 1940 Wyoming is “mineral wealthy.” The state’s mineral content is so exten...

  • The week between Christmas

    Keith McLendon|Dec 24, 2014

Amid the week after Christmas, piles of wrapping in bags, shiny paper and boxes in trash with the tags. Sad little scissors sit broken and bent, from clamshell packaging--they don’t make a dent. The lights are still sparkly, still light up the town, but pretty soon work begins in taking them down. Kids run around ‘cause they’re still out of schools, having a good old time while acting the fools. But the tots are forlorn from here to Hoboken, Christmas is gone and their new toys are broke...
