    George Robert Aydelott, 90, formerly of Rawlins, died Jan. 1, 2014, at Life Care Center of Cheyenne. He was born Aug. 18, 1923, in Duluth, Minn., to Vergal and Mayme (Clausson) Aydelott. When he was three years old, his family left Minnesota and settled in Encampment. George graduated from Encampment High School on 1942. In September of that year, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps and was later being detached to the Eighth Air Force Medical Corps.     The Carbon County School District No. 2 Speech Team went into winter break as 1A/2A champions and started off 2014 with a 1A/2A championship. On Dec. 20 and 21, the speech team traveled to Cheyenne East High School Tournament to compete against 30 schools and 1100 team members from Wyoming, Colorado and Georgia. About 70 people went from here and all report a good time. The Rubes and Giants played a one-sided game of 5 to 25 in favor of the Giants.     Carbon County School District No. 2 held their final meeting of 2013 on Monday. Board members devoted a large part of their discussed financials of the 2013 calendar year. The district announced they have spent an average of $40,385 a day on district expenditures and have been able to keep these expenditures in check with their revenues without having to draw from reserve funds.     The Platte Valley’s high school basketball season is ready to begin this weekend with the two-day Carbon County Classic. Carbon County School District No. 2 Board of Trustees, after consulting with the Wyoming School Board Association, will use the organization in a nationwide search for a new superintendent.
