Outlaws Beatdown Burns

The Rawlins Outlaws had a split week with a win on the road but a tough senior night loss in overtime. On Friday, Rawlins defeated the Burns Broncs (6-16, 0-7) in a conference game. Then, on Saturday, they fell to the Mountain View Buffalos (8-9, 2-4) in a home non-conference match.

“I don’t do this to get awards”

Steve Sanger repeatedly told his colleagues at the Rawlins City Council that he didn’t want to be nominated for the Community Builder award.

They didn’t listen. Earlier this month, he was honored with the award at a city council meeting. The award is given monthly to Rawlins residents who work to improve the community.

100 Years, 100 Voices

On Dec. 1, 1925, the Carbon County Public Library was officially created. What started as a fledgling library of around 1,200 books available in the Carbon Building has grown to a major system that includes branches in Saratoga, Encampment and Medicine Bow.

Herring Kicks Off 2026 Tuesday Talks

Tuesday Talks began in 2022 with Leslie Johnson hosting a variety of speakers and topics of interest at the Platte Valley Community Center (PVCC). The program was created for people in the Valley to get out and talk to one another following the lockdown of the COVID era.

On Feb. 3, Liz Wood and son, Joshua Wood, ignited the 2026 series with the program “Vietnam — 50 Years Later” by Bob Herring.

Riverside to Regulate Rentals

 

The Town of Riverside will begin working on applications for short term rentals following the February 12 meeting of the Riverside Town Council.

Call on River Leads to Call on Neighbors

 

The neighboring municipalities of Riverside and Encampment—along with the Sierra Madre Water Joint Powers Board—are working on establishing a more codified approach to sharing water with each other following a recent call from the Wyoming State Engineer’s Office.
