Encampment Tigers fall to Little Snake River ahead of Regionals
The Encampment Tigers Boys Varsity Basketball team lost 41-62 to the LSRV Rattlers in the final game of the regular season last Thursday.
"This year our schedule has given us the opportunity to play a lot of talented teams," Head Coach Duane Gilbert said. "Those games have showed us our strengths as well as our weaknesses. This allows us to work on certain areas prior to the regional tournament."
Even being at the end of a long season, the Tigers have remained focused and excited, according to Gilbert.
"The team has been focused on getting better everyday," he said. "They are excited to have earned a spot in the regional tournament. None of them have ever been to regionals so accomplishing that goal feels good. Starting Thursday it’s all a new season so we must compete at our highest level if we want to continue accomplishing our goals."
Tiger Nation and the support from the community has been a blessing for Gilbert and his Tigers, he said.
"We are truly blessed to have such great fans," Gilbert said. "We can’t thank them enough for what they do on and off the court. Every team enjoys a packed gym during a game but sometimes we fail to recognize those behind the scenes. The support and encouragement we receive during the week really does build a solid foundation for the weekend."
Regionals begin for the Tigers on Thursday, February 27 in in the Field House Gym at Lander High School. Both the Boys and Girls will play Burlington at 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. respectively.
