Commission plans to review, draft ordinance

The Planning Commission is looking at drafting new ordinances, which could save some Saratoga residents a lot of trouble.
Planning Commission members voted unanimously to move forward with drafting new ordinances for Title 18, ordinances relating to zoning for the town of Saratoga.

Town to advertise Hempel's position

Although some remember her reappointment to the Planning Commission, the Town of Saratoga cannot find any record of Bev Hempel’s renewal.
“We have not found any official minutes from the town council that shows that she was reappointed,” Mayor John Zeiger said.

Glode, Jones add talent to expanded commission

Lindy Glode and Sue Jones were elected as the second and third female Carbon County Commissioners last fall and took office in January.
The two women are from the PlatteValley. Glode lives in Saratoga and Jones lives in Encampment.
After serving for three months as commissioners, the women talked with the Saratoga Sun about their experiences on the five-commission board.

Saratoga FCCLA brings home medals

Seven of 13 students in the Saratoga Family Community and Careers Leadership of America (FCCLA) Chapter returned with medals from the state convention, advisor Linda Fisher-Perue said in a press release.
Harley Klemola, who competed in the occupation division, earned a gold for her interior design.

Speech team places second at state

The Carbon County School District No. 2 (CCSD 2) Speech and Debate Team placed second in the 1A/2A division at the Wyoming State Speech and Debate Competition held March 14, 15 and 16 in Rock Springs.
The meet was held at Western Wyoming Community College.
Kaylyn Wessel and Becca Treat made it into semifinals with a rendition of “The Story of Robin Hood”.

Easter services

The Encampment Presbyterian Church will observe Maundy Thursday beginning at 6 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall.
The service will be in memory of The Last Supper, Rev. Mikki Hall said. The candlelight supper will include worship music, praise music by the Encampment Youth Christian Band, reading scriptures of The Last Supper and communion, Hall said.

Mule deer quota limited

Platte Valley mule deer hunt areas may be limited for the first time ever.
Wyoming Game and Fish released its proposed changes for hunting regulations Monday, and sought public input. One of the proposed changes was to limit the number of hunters in specific hunt areas around Carbon County.
