Be still and know that I am God

In Western liturgical churches, Lent is the forty day season preceding the Resurrection of Our Lord on Easter Sunday. Lent helps Christians recall Jesus’ forty day fast and temptation in the Judean wilderness (Mark 1:12-13; Luke 4:1-3; Matthew 4:1:1-11). During this time, Jesus listened to God in the silence of the desert. Today, Lent, is a time set aside for fasting, prayer, reflection, repentance—and for listening to God.

Art In Our Every Day Lives

On February 24, PVAC President Stacy Crimmins gave attendees of Tuesday Talks a history of the non-profit organization and news that it would be awarding more than $5,000 in scholarships this year.

Snow and Poker at Battle Pass

Cars, trucks and empty trailers lined both sides of Battle Pass Highway as snow snowshoers, snowmobilers and cross-country skiers participated in the Carbon County Avalanche Operations’ Winter Rally and Poker Run last Sunday morning.

We worry about the weather and road conditions, worry about other drivers, worry about our readiness; are our tires good, does the AWD really work, what if there is an accident?

Living On Purpose: Who said that retiring is the end of our calling?

As days pass, we can complain about time flying or rejoice in our blessings. I never thought much about retirement when I was younger, but as the saying goes, it’s never too late to be what you might have been. Had anyone told me I’d teach in public schools later in life, I would have been surprised. Now, as a teacher, I can honestly say it’s the most exciting and satisfying profession I could have imagined.

Genesis of a Global Shoe Empire

Welcome to my book of the month column. In the edition of each month, I’ll be writing a few hundred words on a recent read. There is no practical rhyme, reason or theme with my reading list other than my interest.

You Batter Believe This is Good!

This week we are going to continue with another Lenten favorite. With an interesting history dating back to the 19th century, fish and chips have evolved into a cultural icon in the U.K. Originally enjoyed by the working class, this dish has transformed into a cherished meal that is savored by all demographics.
