    Elliott Deins|Updated Dec 30, 2024

Saratogans may have noticed the big-eared-fluffy-four-pawed member of the police force patrolling the streets alongside Officer Casey Lehr. Argus, who turns three in February, was approved to join the Police Department by the Saratoga Town Council earlier this month. Finding and training Argus It took Lehr awhile just to find Argus. “You can’t just find any dog off the street to do police work,” he said. CJ Baker, Powell Tribune via Wyoming News Exchange|Updated Dec 27, 2024

POWELL - The wrong "claws" got stuck in a Powell chimney this Christmas season, requiring police to come to the rescue. While it took some doing, a pair of officers managed to free a cat that had apparently fallen into the chimney of Northwest College Foundation's Nelson House on Thursday evening. "It was kind of a challenge to get it out," Powell Police Sgt. Dustin DelBiaggio acknowledged, but the efforts were greatly appreciated by NWC Foundation staff, who had been at a...

LANDER - After a terrible car accident delivered a close shave with death in December 2023, 14-year-old Jordan Officer made peace with the possibility that he would never walk again. Then, his toe began to wiggle. "For the first few months, it was just one toe," recalled Jordan's mother, Joy Officer. "The doctors tempered our expectations and said it could be just a spasm, but that little wiggle gave us hope." Now, just over one year post-accident, Jordan is upright, roaming...

  • In Support of Memorial Highway Legislation

    Saratoga Sun Editorial|Updated Dec 27, 2024

If there was anyone more deserving of having a highway named after them than Loren “Teense” Willford, we believe one would be hard pressed to find them. Teense was a larger-than-life figure both personally and politically. He left an impression on the Wyoming Legislature which has lasted more than 20 years since he last sat in Cheyenne, his advocacy and his antics still being told to this day by legislators and lobbyists alike. His advocacy continued in private life as he was a driving force on the North Platte Valley Med...

  • Fandom for Football

    Elliott Deins|Updated Dec 26, 2024

As a wild year of political vitriol, anxiety and division wimpers to a highly anticipated end, there has been one thing that’s pushed me to continue forward, strengthened my bond with family and kept me in contact with friends on all corners of the county — football. Now look, sports are an inherent roller coaster ride of emotion. There’s the thrill of victory – when your team blocks a last second field goal to ice the game against an arch rival. There’s the agony of watchi...

  • Letters to the Editor

    Updated Dec 23, 2024

Dear Editor; Last legislative session we finally got a law passed eliminating gun free zones. We have been fighting for this for decades because it is important. Over 95% of “mass shootings” occur in so called “ gun free zones”. The stupidest shooter knows that’s the best place to go because of personal safety, no one else there will have a firearm. The Aurora shooter walked past 4 theaters that did not prohibit firearms to find one that did. Mark Gordon vetoed that bill. He said he thought it was better for each community...
