    Saratoga Panthers went to two tournaments that lasted two days each. Both were in Colorado. “It was every bit as hard as I heard it would be and then some,” Zach Schmidt, Saratoga head wrestling coach said.   • Miners lose in 3-point barrage

    On Friday, the Hanna, Elk Mountain, Medicine Bow (HEM) High School boys basketball team faced the Laramie Plainsmen sophomore basketball team and had to leave with their first loss of the season.     The Hanna, Elk Mountain, Medicine Bow (HEM) High School wrestlers were busy from Thursday to Saturday. On Thursday, HEM hosted the Quad tournament that had North Park High School from Walden, Colorado, Rawlins JV and Laramie JV compete. Saratoga was scheduled to have wrestlers at the Quad, but road conditions from bad weather made the trip impossible.   • Panthers start slow, finish strong

    The Saratoga Panthers boys and girls, traveled together over the weekend to Shoshoni to compete in the Wrangler Invitational. The boys left Shoshoni with a record of two wins and one loss, the loss coming at the hands of the No. 1 ranked Burlington Huskies, who delivered a 71-58 loss to the Panthers in their first game Friday.   • Tigers look good at Lingle-Ft. Laramie Classic

    The Encampment Tigers made their way to Lingle-Ft. Laramie over the weekend for non-conference play at the Lingle-Ft. Laramie Basketball Classic. The Tigers may not have been playing for conference points, but that didn’t stop them from dominating every opponent they faced over the course of the weekend.   • Hanna Deputy goes Full Time

    The Hanna Town Council convened at 6 p.m. Dec. 12 to allow liquor license holders to serve until 2 a.m. on Jan. 1 and be informed the town had another full time officer. It was business as usual with the approval of the town council Nov. 24 meeting minutes and approval of the financials.   • Jayce meets Hanna

    Jayce Wayne Wofford came with his parents Ethan and Carrie, to a benefit that many who started planning this event a month ago didn’t think he would be able to attend. Jayce was born Oct. 5 at 2 pounds 15 ounces at Denver’s Childrens Hospital and it was thought he would not be leaving the medical center until late January.     Mary Kay Ferguson passed away on Dec. 5, 2017, in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, at the age of 73 following a sudden illness. She was born in Elgin, Illinois to Herbert John and Edna Mary (Sederstram) Beacon on April 6, 1944. A native of Elgin, Kay attended Iowa State University and graduated with a degree in nursing from Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. She worked as a nurse in Chicago and Elgin, before marrying John “Jack” Cotter Ferguson on March 25, 1967, in Elgin. They recently celebrated t... Full story

    Judith Ann (Dower) Babel passed away on Dec. 9, 2017, at the age of 74. Judy was born Aug. 30, 1943 in Niagara Falls, New York, to May and John Dower. She was raised on Grand Island, New York, and attended Charlotte Sidway School through 8th grade.
