On November 27, 2022, Carbon County Sheriff’s Office was notified of an abandoned vehicle on Forest Road 830 (Deep Jack) stuck in the snow. In the afternoon they heard Christmas Trivia and did a Christmas Quiz. Hair and Nail brought out residents on Wednesday morning and Bingo in the afternoon. Seniors from Encampment High School helped residents with a game of bingo for a chance to win quarters or candy. Ruby Ross, Velda Markby, Beth Howell and Rose Marris won quarters for regular, four corners and blackout bingos....
On November 6, the voters of Carbon County renewed the lodging tax in a strong manner. The tax was approved by 79 percent of the residents who voted. Keeping the tax will help make sure the Carbon County Visitors Council (CCVC) can continue to fund grants for activities for the different communities throughout Carbon County. The Valley Service Organization (VSO) continued their 41 year tradition of hosting the Christmas parade in Saratoga. This year's theme was "Christmas Magic". The parade route started by giving the seniors at the Care Center the first look at the floats as they passed by Saturday night. Many said it was a the largest parade in recent memory with more than 20 entries. The line of festively adorned vehicles continued down first street to the crowd who were waiting to catch a glimpse of the lights... Full story
The festivities continued after the lighted parade at the Platte Valley Community Center (PVCC) where the VSO provided food, hot chocolate and cookies. Mr. & Mrs. Claus made an appearance to the delight of children. The PVCC was adorned with many festive inflatables for all to enjoy.... Full story
