According to data from the Wyoming Secretary of State following the primary election, on Aug. 21 140,070 registered voters cast a ballot. The last time the number was this high...

  • A high employment rate

    Mike Armstrong|Aug 29, 2018

My father had two employers his entire work career. The government—I include his years with NASA and the Air Force as one—and General Electric (GE). When he retired, he was more or less set for the rest of his years. My father loved the space industry. At GE he was basically the company’s liaison to NASA. He passed way too early, but I have never doubted he left this world a fulfilled man concerning his work He was an excellent example for me to emulate in his work ethic, but the apple fell far...

    Joshua Wood|Aug 29, 2018

On a bright Saturday morning on Blackhall Mountain Ranch, the smell and sound of percolating coffee threads itself through the handful of conversations happening among those gathered in an arena. Nearby horses move around in their stalls and send out the occasional whinny. The people who have assembled in the large building, most of them women, are preparing for the second day of a three day horse clinic hosted by Jean Burger and put on by Chris Irwin. The attendees range in age and experience,...

  • Keeping data safe

    Staff Report|Aug 29, 2018

Doing business in the 21st century means thinking about the possibility of data breaches. Technology has become so prevalent in our everyday life, we don’t often think about what could happen if we lost all that information. When starting a small business, one may not think about the logistics of protecting the important data that becomes invaluable to running that business. CyberWyoming, through its Made Safe in Wyoming program, is looking to change that by partnering with Green House Data. In a recent press release from the Laramie-based comp...

The pool at the Hanna Recreation Center opened on Aug. 21 and Vivian Gonzales, the director of the center, is happy. It had been shut for over three months. "At first we thought we were going to just replace gaskets and fix some plumbing and then once we got into taking it apart, it turned out the...

  • Get a job! We did!

    Mike Armstrong|Aug 29, 2018
