  • Going commercial?

    Joshua Wood|Jul 25, 2018

A discussion during the regularly scheduled Saratoga Airport Board meeting on July 11 revealed Shively Airfield qualifies through the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to operate as a commercial airport. Members of the board, however, were cautioned at a recent joint meeting that going commercial would invite a new series of frustrations and would increase the burden on the Town of Saratoga. The board also discussed an ongoing issue with taxiways at the airfield being labeled as “non-standar...

  • Be an ambassador

    Joshua Wood|Jul 25, 2018

The Good Times Valley has a lot to offer people both from out-of-town and out-of-state. We are home to a number of inclusive resorts, the only hot springs outside of Yellowstone and Thermopolis and world-class dining. The Hotel Wolf, Bella’s Bistro and Firewater Public House have either been long standing institutions or have quickly cemented themselves as attractions within our town. Along with all of that we also have great fishing, wonderful hunting and some great hikes ranging from easy t...

  • Letter to the Editor

    Jul 25, 2018

Dear Editor, I cannot believe the Saratoga Sun staff is endorsing having children play with fireworks. I had to look twice in the photos of Medicine Bow, when I saw small children playing with fireworks and then saw it was supervised by the Medicine Bow Fire Department. Children and adults are human, and many will believe that once they have been taught how to use fireworks, that it is will be okay to use them without proper supervision, because they know how to properly do it. We have a very dry, fragile forest just waiting for someone to put...

Sturm has always stipulated that the money raised at the event goes toward the shooting sports division of the 4-H foundation. Sturm said, "I started it when I built the sporting clays course," and since Sturm knew people who have long...

  • Old Dip reopens

    Mike Armstrong|Jul 25, 2018

For old timers in Medicine Bow, the C-Spear Bar and Grill location had housed the Diplodocus Bar. The "Old Dip" as it was affectionately known by locals, was famous for it's murals painted by Bill Bennett. Old Dip was also home to the world's largest jade bar. The 40-foot countertop was carved from a four ton boulder of Wyoming jade which was found in the southwestern part of the state near Rock Springs. Wyoming is home to some of the largest jade geological deposits in the world. The Old Dip...

  • A stop on the Journey

    Joshua Wood|Jul 25, 2018

As the summer has progressed, one of the constants throughout Wyoming is the sight of cyclists traveling alongside the roads. Since WYO 130 cuts through Saratoga, the town is often an obvious stop for those who are often taking part in cross-country rides. Valley residents may have noticed, however, that many cyclists have gathered at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church which sits along WYO 130, and there's a good reason why. Reverend Susan Dyer has put the church on the international cycling website...
