Lane Aaron Swedlund was born to Debra J. Hammer and Jason E. Swedlund on April 20th, 1991 in Fort Collins, Colorado. He passed away on June 9th, 2017 in Encampment. He grew up in Drake, Colorado, before moving to Encampment in 2005. He graduated from Encampment High School in 2009 and completed his diesel technician degree from Casper College in 2012. Tuesday the Hanna Town Council met to approve the new hours of the Hanna Recreation Center, discussed ways to find out how to get the water meters to read data currently not being collected and the Marshal reported the status of the recently purchased police vehicles. The Saratoga Planning Commission met Tuesday for its regular monthly meeting and enforcement of town nuisance ordinances took center stage. At the meeting, Dan Ferrin, the town’s zoning officer, told planning commission members that he has received complaints from local residents about lack of enforcement of nuisance ordinances intended to prevent health and safety as well as aesthetic issues. The Saratoga Water and Sewer Joint Powers Board (Sewer Board) met Wednesday to work through a relatively short agenda, slowing down only to address concerns of members of the public and businesses. The business celebrated 20 years of being open although the location has changed several times in Saratoga. Born in Crawford, Nebraska, she was raised mostly in Cheyenne, although she did spend two years of elementary school in Medicine Bow. The rosters are set for the Six-Man Shootout All-Star game between Wyoming and Nebraska's best small-school football players. The sixth Nebraska-Wyoming Shootout Six-Man football game will be June 24 at Kaycee, the school being Wyoming's 2016 six-man champion. A youth baseball program similar to the Utah Jazz basketball program is coming to Carbon County. The Salt Lake Bees will be sponsoring the program. The Salt Lake Bees, headquartered in Salt Lake City, are a triple-A affiliate of the Major League Baseball Anaheim Angels. Kids pre-kindergarten to sixth grade are encouraged to come sign up and teams will be set based on age ranges. Bryon Russell played with the Utah Jazz on the team that was a contender for the NBA championship two years in row. Russell is often remembered for guarding Michael Jordan as Jordan made the clutch shot in the last seconds of game six in the 1998 NBA finals. Many Valley patients at Platte Valley Medical Clinic in Saratoga will likely be seeing a new doctor in late summer after ownership of the clinic is transferred to another physician. Dean Bartholomew, the current physician and owner of the clinic, along with his wife Tonya, confirmed the clinic is for sale and the Bartholomew family will be leaving town once the clinic is under new guidance and ownership. The Carbon County School District #2 will have another new member following its Monday meeting where board member and clerk Tonya Bartholomew of Saratoga announced her resignation from the board. Bartholomew announced her resignation and it was accepted by the CCSD No. 2 board unanimously. The board will solicit letters of interest from members of the public who wish to finish out Bartholomew’s term and is planning to elect her successor at the board’s July meeting. It has been six weeks since the pool at the Hanna Recreation Center had to be closed for repairs to the pipe draining into the scrubber box that starts the filtration. "We had to have it special manufactured and then installed, but now it is working well," said Vivian Gonzales, Recreation and Parks director. Repairs ended up costing $3500.
